1. The earth’s outer layer or crust is broken into pieces called tectonic plates which are constantly moving towards, away from or past each other. Because continents are part of these plates, they also move. An earthquake occurs when the rocks break and move as a result of stresses caused by plate movements.

Most earthquakes occur on the edge of plates, especially where one plate is forced under another such as happens off Sumatra or past another as occurs in California. Some regions have more earthquakes than others with 80% of all recorded earthquakes taking place around the edge of the Pacific Plate, in New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Japan, Canada, USA and South America.

2. The seismologists all over the world use a scale that measures the strength of volcanoes. This scale is called the Richter Scale. This scale measures from 0-10. Never has an Earthquake exceeded 9 on the Richter Scale. Also they use a seismometer. This instrument measures and records motions of the ground including seismic waves by earthquakes, nuclear explosions and other seismic sources.

5. Because they measure where there is a change in the fault line at where the earthquake damaged the most at.

Elizabethan society

The Elizabethan Era is the period associated with Queen Elizabeth I’s reign (1558–1603) and is often considered to be the golden age in English history. It was the height of the English Renaissance and saw the flowering of English poetry and literature. This was also the time during which Elizabethan theatre flourished and William Shakespeare and many others, composed plays that broke free of England’s past style of plays and theatre. It was an age of exploration and expansion abroad, while back at home, the Protestant Reformation became the national mindset of all the people. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabethan_era

 Globe Theatre

The Globe Theatre was a theatre in London associated with William Shakespeare. It was built in 1599 by Shakespeare’s playing company, the Lord Chamberlain’s Men, and was destroyed by fire on June 29, 1613. A second Globe Theatre was rebuilt on the same site by June 1614 and closed in 1642.

A modern reconstruction of the Globe, named “Shakespeare’s Globe”, opened in 1997. It is approximately 230 metres (750 ft) from the site of the original theatre.
